The Westminster Police Department had a goal to provide GIS capability to its field Officers in an easy to use application, which it had not been able to do. AMN Options provided an application MapBook that uses ESRIs MapObject LT software. It is loaded on the patrol cars laptops and is accessed via the touch screens within the cab of the vehicle. The initial project was to provide access to the paper documents that the patrol officers were familiar with then integrate the system to combine GIS data and functionality with the scanned maps. The third phase of this project will be to use the City’s wireless network to transmit information between vehicles on the GIS map.
